Ilanushca is a feminist, social justice activist and facilitator who has spent 28 years working for national and international development organisations in Namaqualand and South Africa to address issues of access to land, alternative land uses, GBV and environmental awareness. Among others, she worked for Surplus People Project and Conservation International. Ilanushca also has vast experience in local radio as a presenter tackling issues of GBV, social justice and community development. She is also currently the chairperson of the first Act9 community CPA in Namaqualand to receive ownership of their land after 20-year battle. Passionate about storytelling, she loves to use stories to influence audiences and build understanding of women and their struggles. Her first book, Motivating the Entrepreneurial Spirit, Stories from the Northern Cape, tells the stories of 15 mainly female tourism entrepreneurs in hopes of stimulating female entrepreneurship in rural villages across South Africa.
