WoMin proudly launches the Women Building Power research and information booklets for women’s rights activists

WoMin, a women-led regional alliance fighting destructive natural resource opens in a new windowextraction and proposing a just development agenda for African women, is pleased to officially launch Women Building Power.

Women Building Power is a cutting-edge and developing collection of research, information materials, and tools which form the knowledge hub of an emerging African women-led grassroots driven campaign on Fossil Fuels, Energy and opens in a new windowClimate JusticeWomen Building Power resources will support grassroots organising, strategy development, and advocacy at all levels.

Women Building Power presents:

Seven information booklets on women and energy, four of which address simple renewable energy technologies that women can use to deal with the daily challenges of energy poverty and organise in their communities for the wider changes needed to achieve energy and opens in a new windowclimate justice.

A popular paper, ‘Women Building Power: Towards Climate and Energy Justice for Women in Africa’ which provides a sweeping overview of energy and climate change in Africa from an eco-feminist perspective. This is the first of a series of popular research papers, which will include national energy policy analysis in a minimum of four countries, a geopolitical ecofeminist analysis of renewable energy policy and key investment frameworks in Africa, and a set of case studies on alternative energy systems and their financing.

Please join us at this important African launch of resources that are critical to achieving a gender and energy just world. The launch will be graced with the presence of the Honourable Betty Anywar, woman representative from the Kitgum District. Guests will also have opportunity to hear women from the oil fields of Uganda speak of their experiences of oil impacts and energy poverty. Key activists and thinkers on women’s rights and economic justice from the rest of Africa, Asia and Latin America will also address the event.
